Our annual Spring Break trip Washington, DC is a student favorite! Not only do students get to learn about citizenship and democracy first hand but they also learn a lot about themselves and how to live and work with others very different than themselves. For some it is the first time being on their own and they learn quickly how manage themselves and their space. Long road trips and shared accommodation have a way of bringing people together.
Students love experiencing history they’ve only read about in books. From Ford’s Theater where Lincoln was assassinated to his monument, students end up exploring all over DC. They have the opportunity to visit Embassies, museums, monuments, the White House, the Capitol, sit in the galleries of the House and Senate, visit Congressman John Lewis’ office, engage in community service, Fredrick Douglass’ home and multiple universities. But most of all they have fun!
